Bryan's Blog - Stardate: 95445.88 - In Defense of Justice, a Bergdahl Counter Position

It took all of about two seconds for social media to explode with hatred and condemnation about the sentencing of Bowe Bergdahl. Without a doubt, a majority of you know that the judge, Col. Jeffrey Nance, decided that Bowe Bergdahl will not face prison time. This decision has not set well with everyone from your average Joe to the President of the United States.  As many know, Bergdahl pled guilty to U.S. Code10 U.S. Code § 899 - Art. 99. 'Misbehavior before the enemy.' Cornell defines this code as: Any member of the armed forces who before or in the presence of the enemy— (1) runs away; (2) shamefully abandons, surrenders, or delivers up any command, unit, place, or military...

It has been a hectic few days. Every deployment is like this. I always assumed it was just a military thing. I has become abundantly clear over the last few years that is most definitely a life thing, not a military thing... From squaring away bills and wills to coordinating logistics on the ground, it can be exhausting. At least in the military, for the most part, all you had to really focus on was getting down range. The other end was both happy and relieved to see you so they usually made arrangements for your arrival. As a civilian, it is much different. As a civilian operating both a small non-profit and small for profit business, you have very little...
