As many of you know, I am safe and well back home in the U.S. Don't get me wrong, I use 'safe' loosely as we tend to turn a blind eye to the violence that happens in our own country while simultaneously looking at the rest of the world with judging and condescending eyes. Since leaving Mosul I have had plenty of time to reflect on my recent travels. It has been a hectic few days. Every deployment is like this. I always assumed it was just a military thing. I has become abundantly clear over the last few years that is most definitely a life thing, not a military thing... From squaring away bills and wills to coordinating logistics on the ground, it can be exhausting. At least in the military, for the most part, all you had to really focus on was getting down range.
